Christian gave me yr blogs address. Its been years and years since we last spoke and I wanted to say Hi and I think your work is fantastic! You inspire me. I'm involved in the commercial side and sell my soul by day and I'm itching to be creative like i used to be...
Hey Broth very impressed with the new drawings and lovely simple style. You really are moving upwards and beyond. Merce looking very good with the changes you've made to her face, beautiful and fierce. Keep up the inspiring work.
.Living in London this series of drawings have been happening since 95 . Here i am toying with the notion of what is real or not . the landscape that occurs in the drawings could be real or fantasy . Maybe you know it couldn't be real or you might know it could be real . I don't know myself as if it was real id be having my doubts about reality itself anyway . A clue would be that the later work could be derived from a shamanic experience , this comes across clearly in the three life size sculptures . These characters are manifestations of the spirit world , clearly unreal but I'm saying they do exist . grant.carlin@live.co.uk
The double lifesize galvanised steel contructed sculpture "Merce" is inspired by an exp with some such invis enty 10 ft in Jul 2001 that wanted a sculpture made , still in progress .On another level it also works with "Irridecence" (see diagram) as two sculptures of Kate Beckinsale as her two character aspects ,a tree aspect and an animal aspect that i say can ocasionally occur in humans . Two aspects of this one thing we see , means invisible conveyed as seethrough .
